Pintados Festival

Pintados Festival, also known as Pintados Kasadyaan Festival, is a cultural/religous celebration held in Tacloban City, in honor of their traditional  "pintados" warrior. In 1986, the Pintados Foundation, Inc. was formed by the people of Tacloban to organize the said festival in honor of Sr. Santo NiƱo. Years later, it was merged with the Kasadyaan Festival which is normally held on the 30th of June.

Based from my observation, the main 'stars' of the event are the festive dancers, which are painted with amazing, bold and colorful designs to resemble their "pintados" warriors. They make the city livelier and more festive, which attracts a lot of tourists. At first, I personally thought it was hideous, since the colors were very bold and striking. But, when I was watching them, I've began to appreciate and understand their culture.

The music was literally festive, creating sounds that produce rhythm for the dancers. As I can recall, it was produced through different set of percussion instruments, and instruments made from 'kawayan' or bamboo. The music was so zesty and vibrate that it made me wanna dance a bit, of course it matched the dancers and give that festive and fun vibe.
