Prouldy Filipino, Viva Pilipinas!

Hi everyone! Today’s  theme  is about nationality. Hooray for my kapwa-Filipinos!  We Filipinos are known being “makabayan” and hospitable. I believe that is  true, also, we have a lot of celebrations which we sort of inherited from the Spaniards way back centuries ago. Today’s featured song would be “Bayan Ko” which is a classic music that isnplayed in every school.
Here are the lyrics in tagalog:

Ang bayan kong Pilipinas
Lupain ng ginto't bulaklak
Pag-ibig na sa kanyang palad
Nag-alay ng ganda't dilag.

At sa kanyang yumi at ganda
Dayuhan ay nahalina
Bayan ko, binihag ka
Nasadlak sa dusa.

Ibon mang may layang lumipad
kulungin mo ay umiiyak
Bayan pa kayang sakdal dilag
Ang di magnasang makaalpas!

Pilipinas kong minumutya
Pugad ng luha ko't dalita
Aking adhika,
Makita kang sakdal laya.

Did you now that the term “Filipino” originally referred to the natives of the Philippines themselves? It was Pedro Chirino, a Spanish Jesuit, who first called the natives “Filipinos”. Altough, during the 333years of colonizing the Philippines, they preferred to call the natives “indios”.

The Earliest signs of the effect to Filipino nationalism  could highly be seen during the raging revolutions of the Filipinos to fight for their freedom, country, and fellow natives. It was not just a bloody revolution, there was also a silent type of revolution wherein some of our ancestors preferred to use their knowledge against the colonizers.
Well, that was just a short taste of the Filipino’s history, which made us who we are today. Have a nice day everyone! J
